ICSJ School is hosting a Little Dolphins Playdate on Thursday, September 12th from 10–11:00 am. for families with children who are currently 2 or who will turn 2 this year. Little Dolphins is a "caregiver and me" style toddler class that runs on Tuesday and Thursday mornings during the school year. The playdate will feature story time, music and movement, self-directed center time play (with a craft station option), and outdoor play time! A nut-free snack will also be provided. Each year our Knights of Columbus don their familiar yellow aprons for the annual Tootsie Roll Drive. The Knights of Columbus are at it again and plan to be at all the Masses on September 14th and 15th to collect your donations for ICSJ's SPRED Ministry (Special Religious Development) and distribute tootsie rolls. All funds collected from the Tootsie Roll Drive go to the ICSJ SPRED ministry.
If you enjoy knitting and/or crocheting (or would like to learn), join us! KnitWits is a group of knitters and crocheters who meet monthly to create baby blankets, hats and other items for Children’s Place, a service that helps newborns whose parent(s) cannot care for them. You can come for a half hour, a couple hours or for the entire time…whatever fits your schedule. Our next meetup is Monday, May 20th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the St. Joseph Parish Center. If you’re interested in learning more about the realities and experiences of refugees in our community, join us for a Lunch & Learn on Saturday, September 21st at 12:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 3rd floor. All are welcome! Please RSVP here if you plan to attend. The event will feature information about Exodus World Service, a Chicagoland-based Christian ministry that mobilizes volunteers to welcome and befriend refugees. Exodus World Service provides opportunities for education about the refugee crisis and what it means to "warmly welcome together" in the context of our ICSJ Refugee Ministry.
Madonna House is a safe, transitional house for migrant women and children who have been victims of domestic abuse. As an LPOT mission, we are partnering with St. Teresa’s and St. Josaphat’s to provide Wednesday dinners to these families. Volunteers are needed to make meals at your home and drop them off at ICSJ on Wednesdays before 12 noon. New dates have been added for the Fall! See the meal details and sign-up link here. Questions? Peace Yoga Returns to the Immaculate Conception Church Parish Hall on Saturdays, September 28- November 16, from 9:30a.m. - 10:15 a.m. All welcome! Join Jennifer Kim of The Peace School in this popular beginner level class. Each class includes stretches, basic yoga postures, breathing meditation and relaxation for a complete sense of well being. The cost of the 8-class series is $60, which you can pay on your first day of class by cash or check payable to The Peace School.
